Use and healing tradition of Ayahuasca
Used since time immemorial by our native Amazonian and surrounding communities, this brew, generally made in the traditional way with two essential elements, is the ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) and the leaves of the Chacruna plant (Psychotria viridis), alone or in combination with other plants, roots, and leaves at the discretion of the healer. Ayahuasca means “drink of the soul” in the Quechua language, also known as Oni in the Shipibo language and Hananeroca in the Ashaninka language, the vine that connects to the celestial river, the ethnic group of most of our healers.
Traditionally, our indigenous people of the rainforest use Ayahuasca from the perspective and guidance of healers to diagnose and cure various illnesses and dissonant spiritual expressions. These were and are normally guided by the help of the spirits and guides of the plants, whose expressions and contact are guided by the Icaros, which are not only ritual songs, but also an energetic expression that subtly guides from diagnosis to the healing process and alignment at various levels of the people who follow this path and healing process.
Biochemically speaking, the Banisteriopsis caapi plant grows natively in the Amazon rainforest of South America, especially in what we call here the high jungle. Its alkaloid components, harmine, harmaline, and tetrahydroharmine, in conjunction with the DMT or dimethyltryptamine from the leaves of the Chacruna, cause the human organism, or more precisely, the brain, to activate powerful neurotransmitter mechanisms or serotonin. Both work in perfect synchrony and synergy to open the patient or follower-practitioner to the connection and development of numerous expanded states of consciousness, visions, or connections with the other world called spiritual, obviously with the guidance and management of an experienced native healer.
Ayahuasca preparation and healing process
In principle, we are pleased to inform you that the entire process of preparing our ayahuasca is based on the use of elements of the highest possible quality and purity. Although, strictly speaking, we only use the ayahuasca vine and the leaves of the Chacruna as a base in our main rituals and processes, we also use, separately and upon request, other portions of Amazonian master plants, used appropriately, according to the treatment and profile of each participant. All of this is done with the guidance and management of experienced healers and native masters in the use and treatment with ayahuasca.
You will participate in the entire preparation process, starting with removing the bark from the Ayahuasca vine, up to softening the vine. It is a very rustic and practical process, where, on a wooden base, we soften the vines with gentle blows from properly prepared wooden mallets. This preparation will be poured into a pot, along with the Chacruna leaves, and boiled over a jungle fire for several hours until the appropriate consistency and point are reached.
Note that we use appropriate ecological elements, such as those made of wood, or ceramic or clay cooking pots. It would be counterproductive to use aluminum pots for cooking such a medicine.
Throughout the entire process—from introduction and preparation to diet and the ritual itself—you will have a completely immersive experience. This means that you will participate as an integral part of the experience, preparation, and healing journey, guided step by step by us, experienced teachers with years of experience. Above all, we share this experience exactly as we have lived and learned it from our native healer ancestors, in their own natural, native environment, using the elements and tools we use in our daily lives, in a warm and supportive atmosphere. Imagine being one of us, joining in this journey, singing and learning from the stories of life experiences, the spirits of the trees, the sound of the river, and the whisper of the light jungle wind, all sung to the rhythm of the jungle creatures and the icaros, or healing songs of our native Amazonian culture.
